"Words are the sub routine to language in our brains. Pictures and images are the primary way in which our brain send and recieve information" adapted from Tony Buzan 2004

Test it out... Get someone to select several key words that are important to you - house, car, children. Then get them to write one of them down and then say it to you. As they are saying it, close your eyes. What do you see? I bet the image in your mind wasn't the same as the word written on a piece of paper. I expect it was far more detailed than simply the words, for example "H O M E"
There have been many exciting developments in understanding how children learn and which strategies really connect with pupils.
We aim to remove the traditional ceiling of learning placed upon children by:
  • Sharing clear learning intentions with pupils and parents, every step of the way
  • Identifying the needs of pupils and meeting / extending them in a creative, exciting environment
  • Allowing pupils time to reflect upon and improve their work to achieve their best
  • Supporting children to be enthusiastic and independent learners
  • Empowering children with strategies to think about thinking
  • Encouraging strong home-school links to extend and support children's learning
  • Making learning activities challenging, real, meaningful and purposeful... linked to the children's interests and enthusiasms
